Obituary
We, the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Duprey, regret to announce her sudden passing Jan 6, 2023 at Seaview Manor Glace Bay. She was born in New Victoria in 1941 to the late Julia and Henry Fougere.
In her earlier years she was employed at the Novarite Dry Cleaners in New Waterford but her greatest accomplishment was as a mother and grandmother who had a helping hand at raising her grandchildren. One of the things anyone could tell you about waking into her house was it always smelled of homemade bread, rabbit pie or whatever other great feast she was preparing. She would always light up when her grandkids arrived and asked “what ya bakin Nanny”. In more recent times her greatest pastime was watching her great grand kids playing and giving her hugs. Betty was so fortunate to have her loving daughters Linda and Lynn who made sure she got out for visits and a home cooked meal 2 or 3 times per week.
Bettys other pastimes through the years were quilt making, Friday Night Darts and her many weekends at their trailer in Lake Ainslie where she was known to cook up the ‘odd scoff’.
Betty is survived her daughters; Linda (Scott) Graham and Lynn Quigley (Clarence), son in law Edward Gauchier, Brothers; Alfie (Lilly) Fougere, and Wayne (Anne) Fougere, Sisters; Ursula (George) Soldon, and Sharon (Eddie) Power Brother in law Charles Duprey, Grandchildren; Micheal, Robbie, Ashley (Chris), Nicole (David), Melissa (Phil), Lonita, and Kandice. Great Grandchildren; Keegan, Emma, Molly, David, Ethan, Aidan, Ryder, and Elliot, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her late husband Albert ‘Bee’ Duprey, her son Albert junior, daughter Karen Gauchier, and son in law David Quigley.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday January 11th from 5- 8p.m.in McLellan Funeral Home 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday January 12th at 10am, in the funeral home chapel, followed by an interment service in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. The family invites you to a reception following the services at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Ave, New Waterford. Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little–but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me–but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me–But Let me Go!
