A Love Letter and In Loving Memory of our Mother, Eleftheria Mihas.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mama, Eleftheria Mihas, a woman whose life was a testament to kindness, warmth, and unwavering loyalty. Eleftheria was a devoted Mother, Yiayia, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife and Friend, whose heart overflowed with love for her family and her Greek heritage.
Mama’s faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. She walked closely with Christ, finding in Him her greatest source of strength and comfort whether in times of joy or in moments of illness. Mama led a prayerful life, surrounding herself with icons that held special meaning to her, and faithfully lighting a candle each day as a symbol of her devotion.
Family meant everything to Mama and nothing brought her more joy than gathering her loved ones for the feasts she lovingly prepared. Mama’s kitchen was a haven of warmth and tradition, where every meal became a celebration of family bonds. She cherished her children and grandchildren and sisters and brother, holding onto the values and bond they shared, and her love for her Greek roots shone brightly in all that she did.
For the past 24 years, Mama was cared for at Toronto General Hospital at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre. True to her nature, she remained kind and gracious even during her hospital stays, and the medical team treated her with exceptional care. We extend our warmest gratitude to her Cardiologist, Doctor Rafael Alonso, who cared for her as if she were his own mother, as well as Doctor Fernandez and Dr. Marques, and all the nurses and medical team who attended to her daily with such compassion.
Mama leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength that will continue to inspire her family for generations to come. Mama’s unwavering faith in Jesus and her deep devotion to her family will be forever cherished in our hearts.
With eternal love and devotion, Eleftheria’s children:
