Obituary
Byers, Elaine MacKay R.N. – 84, Tatamagouche, passed away, Friday, September 22, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Allison Frederick and Annie Isabel (MacKay) Byers. Elaine trained at the Halifax Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1959. She went on to nurse at various places, having spent most of her time nursing at the Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home, Dartmouth. After retiring Elaine moved back to Tatamagouche where she enjoyed being with her family and friends. Survived by her children, Julia (Bert) Brown, Craig (Stefanie) Perry, and Brad Perry and five grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Taylor, Justin, Jakob, and Austin; siblings, Joan Rowan, Jeanne Forbes, and Robert «Bob» Byers. Predeceased by sisters, Eleanor Smith and Alexandra «Sandy» Moore. A time to celebrate Elaine’s life will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, October 14 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Drive, Tatamagouche.
