Eileen Katherin Streatch-Ashbaugh
July 6, 1943 – October 22, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Eileen Katherin Streatch-Ashbaugh announce her passing. Eileen died suddenly at the age of 81 on Tuesday October 22, 2024, at Headwaters Healthcare Centre. Eileen was born on July 6, 1943, in Toronto, York Ontario to Barbra and Peter Mergl. Eileen married Larry Ashbaugh on July 17, 1999, they enjoyed many happy years together blending two families into one. Eileen spent many enjoyable hours gardening and painting. She had a passion for animals and owned many pets over the years. The family would playfully tease that she loved animals more than them. Eileen was an amazing cook and would often share or send meals and baked goods to others.
Remaining to cherish Eileen’s memory are her spouse of 25 years, Larry Ashbaugh and their children Deborah (Tony) Kuch, Joanna Norton, Rebecca (Anthony) Hammad, James (Terry) Ashbaugh, Nicholas (Shelly) Ashbaugh, Steven (Jasmine) Ashbaugh and their 17 grandchildren.
Preceding Eileen in death are her parents, Barbra and Peter Mergl, and her brother Peter Mergl.
A reception to honour Eileen’s life will be held on Wednesday October 30, 2024 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at her home in Orangeville (92 Princess St, Orangeville, ON L9W 1W1).
Donations to honour Eileen can be made to the Ontario SPCA Orangeville (650 Riddell Rd. Orangeville, ON L9W 5G5)
