Edna Rose Anna ton
– 82, of Truro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September
19, 2023 at Vimy Court. Born in Kemptown, she was a daughter of the
late Charles and Alice Frizell.
Mom worked at various
jobs throughout her life starting in her early years at Moirs
Chocolate Factory in Halifax, Federal Products, Kentucky Fried Chicken
in Truro and her last 21 years at Standfield’s Ltd. before
retiring. Mom also did a lot of volunteer work at many organizations
but was best known for her time at the Salvation Army and most fondly
at the Free Store which she helped run until its
closing.
Family game nights
were a must, big dinners and family visits; some of these could get
pretty rowdy especially a game of spoons, but we sure had fun. For
Christmas dinners, Mom always cooked the turkey overnight and no one
could make stuffing and coleslaw like she could. Many, many dinners
with family and friends, teas and talks, she always had a way that
made you feel special. One thing that everyone would agree on is she
had the most infectious smile and laugh that could reach far and wide.
Mom was also very crafty and made many crafts such as time out dolls
and Christmas potpourri vases. There was not much she
couldn’t do.
Mom spent many of her
retirement days watching her grandchildren. Spending much time with
them, she adored them. Her eyes lit up with excitement over many of
their firsts and when she talked about them. Teaching some to bake, a
favorite time spent to be sure, playing video games with others and
they would laugh as she stomped her feet and her arms would go left
and right, she would have tears laughing. Being there for some first
days of school. Those that lived far away she talked about
often. Mom would show pictures of them and say how handsome
or beautiful and smart they were, and what they were going to be or do
when they got older. She was so proud of everyone.
In Mom’s
last few years Alzheimer’s took hold and Mom moved to Vimy
Court Nursing Home. After a few years Covid also entered the picture
and visitation wasn’t possible. We had to rely on the staff
to care for our Mom and spend time with her because we could not. Who
knew that more than Alzheimer’s was going to take away our
time? You learn very quickly that time matters very
much.
Mom was a person of
great faith. Like many, she had struggles in life but her faith never
wavered. In Mom’s last days she was very peaceful we believe
it was because of that faith. Her Vimy family and friends treated her
with kindness, respect and dignity because she was their
«Rosie» with her beautiful smile right to the last day. There
are not enough words to thank Mom’s extended family at Vimy
Court for everything you did and continue to do. You deserve more
credit than you are ever given in your job. People do not realize all
that it takes to do what you do. All of you. Thank you and God Bless
you.
Mom leaves behind
husband Lloyd ton; daughters, Tamara Caldwell, Twila MacDonald,

Take the LOVE you have for
me
And radiate it
outwards
Allowing it to touch and
impact others.
Take the MEMORY you have
of me
And use it as a source of
inspiration
To live fully, meaning
fully and intentionally.
Take the IMAGE you have of
me in your mind
And allow it to fuel
you
To take
action
Seize the
day
And be reminded of what is
most important in life.
Take the CARE you have for
me
And let it remind
you
To care for yourself
fully
And shower yourself with
your own love.
And take the pain and
GRIEF you feel
Following my
loss
And alchemize it
into
Love, compassion and
beauty
Build a
castle
From the wreckage of my
passing
And allow it to unlock
your greatness and potential
And empower you to become
more than you ever
Thought you were capable
of being.
And know that I never
truly leave you
And will always remain
beside you
Watching over you in
spirit.
And that the love I have
for you lives on
Through the connections
you form
The kindness and
compassion you share
And the future
relationships you cultivate.
And until we are one day
reunited
I will remain with
you
Through the storms and
chaos of life
And am always beside
you
Walking with you, laughing
with you, crying with you
and smiling with
you.
And I am proud of you for
bring strong
I am proud of you for
being brave
And I am proud of you for
being you.
