It’s with mixed emotions that the family announces the passing of Edmore Gervais on May 19, 2024 at the age of 86. We are consoled by the fact that he is finally able to rest in peace.
Ed is survived by his two children, Gilbert (Angelique) Gervais and Louise (Joey) Montague, four beloved grandchildren Kyle Montague, Corrie (Dave) Anderson, Crystal Gervais (Victoria Belanger) and Chase Gervais (Letty Rodriguez) and seven cherished great grandchildren Abbygail, Tyson, Jordan, Zoey, Brodie, Parker and Gretchen. He is also survived by his former spouse and best friend Carol Gervais, his siblings Gail Arseneault and Emery Gervais as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Edmore and Florence Gervais, his brothers Gilbert and Don Gervais, his sister Doreen Shultz and his baby girl Mary Gervais.
Ed was forever the life of the party, he lived to make people laugh. Throughout his life he was on the move, living in innumerable homes and several towns, never able to truly feel settled. He was lovingly referred to as a Métis Voyageur several time over the years.
He worked in the trucking business in his youth and transitioned to car sales in his later years, prior to “retirement”. He often said that he never really retired since he continued to wheel and deal till the end. Even while living at Extendicare, he was proud that he was able to trade the cushion from his wheelchair for a walker.
We would like to thank the staff at Extendicare for taking such good care of him. The dignity with which they treated Ed will forever be appreciated. The family would also like to thank the staff in the hospice care unit at TADH for the care they provided in his final days and Dr Judy Gillies who was his primary care physician for several years.
Family and friends are invited to gather in the auditorium at the McIntyre Community Centre, 85 McIntyre Rd, Timmins ON on Tuesday May 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. for a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice Care Centre at TADH or purchase a 50/50 draw ticket from TADH and think of him.
