Edith Augusta Steeves passed away
suddenly at the Moncton Hospital on March 26,2023, just a few
days before her 93rd birthday. Edith was born in Salem on
March 30th, 1930 the daughter of the late Arnold B. and Grace
(Wallace) Steeves.
She worked at the T. Eaton Co. for a time but worked mainly
on the farm. She loved working on the farm and she could
work in the hayfield with the best of them. She grew up in
Salem and attended the Salem Baptist Church. She met and
married Ellison Steeves and they had a wonderful life
together. They were blessed with their daughter,
Norma, and she was their world. Edith spent a lot
of time in the kitchen and enjoyed baking, her home was always full of
sweets when company came to visit. Her door was always open
and she loved to have family and friends come and gather at the
farm. Edith and Ellison loved to travel and spent a lot of
time making memories travelling around to see different parts
of Canada and the United States. Edith also loved
playing cards and going to her card parties. Edith had a
great sense of humour and loved to laugh. She was
a great mom and grandmother, and her daughter and she had a
very special bond. « The love between a mother
and daughter is FOREVER. »
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Norma Murphy
(Joe) of Riverview; her treasured grandchildren, Jill, Jonathan
(Melissa); cherished great grandchildren, Cameron, Juliet and
Jazmine. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Verna
Steeves of Hillsborough and by several nieces, nephews and by all her
extended family and friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved
husband, Ellison; brothers, Oris, Ottis, Bruce (Kathryn); infant
sister Doris, sisters, Irma Hopper (Grover) and Hazel Irving
(Guy).
Honouring Edith’s own wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service. A private family Interment will be held in
the Shenstone Cemetery, Shenstone, NB.
For those who wish donations to the Crohn’s &
Colitis Canada or charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly
appreciated.
