Doug Grahlman Obituary
Passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System, Owen Sound on Monday, October 7, 2024. Born on Sunday, January 8, 1950, Douglas John Grahlman of Owen Sound, was in his 75th year.
Beloved husband and best friend of Heather Grahlman (nee Macdonald) for 55 years. Loving father of Sherry Lee of Port Elgin and Scott Grahlman (Amy) of Owen Sound. Cherished grandpa of Abigail Moore (Steven Litt), Kieran Moore (Ella Gratto), Autumn Bateson and Cole Grahlman. Dear brother of Carol Deering (Melvin) of Chatsworth.
Doug will also be missed by his golf buddies at Legacy Ridge and Cypress Lake in Florida.
Predeceased by his parents Louie and Helen Grahlman.
Doug founded Chatsworth Insurance Brokers in 1972 where he worked alongside and shared his passion with his son Scott for the last 30 years. He was a past president of the IBAO, a board member of the IBAC, and of RIBO. He was also active in his local community as a past chairman of the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation, a dedicated hockey referee and coach, and a valued volunteer in organizing the annual Chatsworth Santa Claus Parade for many years. Doug adored his family and loved them fiercely. He will be remembered for his deep affection for his beloved wife Heather, and for his faithful support of his grandchildren’s sports and activities.
In keeping with Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private memorial service will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
Friends and family are invited to join a celebration of Doug’s life at Legacy Ridge Golf Club, 318494 Grey Road 1, Owen Sound, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 1-3 p.m.
