Born in Malagash, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Annie (Stevens) Treen. Dorothy lived most of her life in Conns Mills, before moving to Pugwash. They experienced a train derailment on the way, but it didn’t dampen her interest in travel. In 2012, she flew to BC for her sister Anna’s birthday, and in 2015 at age 90, she flew across Canada again, spending time in Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver Island visiting family. During Harbourfest she took a helicopter ride over the Pugwash shoreline, commenting that the ride was too short. Then at age 93 she traveled to Ontario to meet her twin great-granddaughters. In 1985, the book titled «Over Ninety Years of Reminiscences, Arthur Treen», was compiled by Dorothy and put into print. She was able to remain in her home, with the wonderful care of the VON nurses and Home care workers, until she fell and broke her hip in April. The family is very appreciative of VON, Homecare and the caring staff at Pugwash and Amherst hospitals.
