PENNEY, Dorothy Geraldine ~ Age 99, of Greenwood, Kings Co., formerly of Middleton, Annapolis Co., N.S., passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on September 21, 1925, in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Blanche (Sabean) Milbury.
Dorothy enjoyed the time spent in her flower and vegetable gardens. While living in Richmond Hill, Ontario, she worked in the landscaping business. Dorothy loved her family dearly.
Surviving are daughters, June (Dennis) Thompson, of Brampton, Ontario; Patricia “Pat” (the late Rick) Proudfoot, Thornhill, Ontario; son, John (Katherine “Kathy” Connell) Penney, Greenwood; grandchildren, Michelle, Susan, Derrick, Pamela, Danielle and Crystal; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Jagger, Middleton; Grace Robar, Nictaux; Anne (Larry) Cody, Trenton, Ontario; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Irving D. Penney; sisters, Flora, Barb, Myrtle, Madeline, Betty, Vangie and Margaret; brothers, Bobby, John and Warren.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend a graveside service that will take place at 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 11, in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton, with Rev. Dr. Danny Smith officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
