We are so deeply saddened to announce the passing of a dear wife and loving mother.
Doris is predeceased by her parents William and Maud Simms
Left with cherished memories are; loving husband of 66 yrs, Melvin, her daughter Debbie (Wayne), son Glenn (Roxanne). Her precious grandchildren, Michael, Susan (Andrew), Daniel, Jeremy (Samantha). Her great grandchildren, Samuel, Quinn, Andy, Grace, Jude, & Andrew. Sister, Audrey Antle; Sisters in law; Marjory (Bud), Iris (Don); and a large circle of family and friends.
Doris had a very caring and generous heart, never thinking of herself and always reaching out to others in many ways. She loved company and you would never leave her home without a treat, such as cookies, buns, candy, or even a pair of hand knit slippers. Her favourite and usual place was in the kitchen. She would often visit others with treats from her kitchen over the years.
She was very well known in the town and held the position of Town Clerk, Justice of the Peace and she was also an avid volunteer.
She was very active in her church for over 70 yrs which included music ministry, ACW, and Altar guild.
In recent years she would always make a quilt to donate to the cancer relay committee and thoroughly enjoyed doing it.
Her faith in God was evident and she would always remind others to pray. (even the doctors). But most of all, she will always be remembered for her love of others, especially her family.
Visitation will be held at Strathie’s funeral home in Catalina on Sunday, Oct.22, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Monday, Oct. 23 from 10-12, 2-4, and 7-9.
Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 24 at 2 pm from St. Peter’s Anglican Church.
