Doris Ellen Pottle
1950-2023
Doris «Ellen» (Nelson)
Pottle, 72, of Rusagonis, NB passed away peacefully in the presence of
her family at the Fredericton Hospice House on November 24th, 2023
after a courageous battle with cancer. Ellen was born on December 3rd,
1950, the daughter of the late Blair and Erna Faye (Steeves)
Nelson.
From a young age, Ellen was gifted
with a nurturing and maternal tenderness. She cared about the
wellbeing of her siblings and as she grew older with more
responsibilities she became like a second mom to
them.
She took after her mother and was an
exceptional cook and baker. She could make something out of nothing
and was always willing and ready to provide a big meal on short
notice. Her hospitality was without hesitation and all were welcome
with open arms. She was tidy and enjoyed a clean home. She once again
used her gift to help others by taking the time to clean homes over
the last couple of years. In times of trouble, she was not easily
shaken and certainly wasn’t one for complaining. She took each
obstacle as it came and faced it with courage. One day at a
time.
All of these qualities she carried
with her throughout her life. It’s no wonder Ellen became a mom
herself to two beautiful daughters. They were her world and she was a
guiding light, a protector, and confidant for them. She would do
anything just to see them smile. When her grandchildren came, she was
over the moon and they were her pride and joy. She wanted all of the
best for her family.
Ellen was a beautiful soul with a
generous heart who devoted her life to her family. She was grateful to
have them by her side in her final days looking after her as she
always did for them. «All that I am and hope to be, I owe to my
angel mother.»
She will be deeply missed by her
daughter Amanda Jackson of Oromocto and her children Ella and Caleb;
daughter, Rebecca King of Bentley , Alberta and her children Sydney,
Seth, Piper, Paxton and Tommy; sisters, Charlotte Warda (Peter) of
Hillsborough and Norah Doucet (Brian) of Sackville; brothers, Keith
(Cheryl) of Hillsborough, Hugh (Shelley) of Hopewell Cape, Barry
(Marla) of Hopewell Cape, Ralph (Kim) of Moncton, Ian (Carolyn) of
Moncton, and Dana of Hopewell Cape. She will also be missed by her
aunt Shirley Teahan of Riverview and several nieces and nephews and
all of her friends.
Honouring Ellen’s wishes there will be
no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be
held at the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape, NB where Ellen will be
laid to rest with her parents.
In memory of Ellen, donations to the
Fredericton Hospice House or the Mountain View Cemetery would be
greatly appreciated by the family.
