Obituary of Don Cameron
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald “Don” Cameron, husband of Wanda (Smith) announces his passing on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Don was born on December 31, 1946, in Saint John, NB, and was the son of the late Freeman and Joyce (Doyle) Cameron.
He enjoyed many years of marriage to his beloved wife, Wanda, and together they raised 3 boys and made many special memories together at home or while travelling around Atlantic Canada together. They shared a very special bond and loving marriage of almost 56 years.
Don had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies. He had a deep love for dogs and took pleasure in their companionship. He had two special small dogs Bailey first, then Chilli. In his retirement, he embarked on daily nature walks with his furry companions, finding solace and beauty in his own backyard of Quispamsis. Don was also someone who kept up to date with the latest gadgets and technology. His family has heard him fondly recount the story of his very first transistor radio as a child, which led to a lifelong passion for electronics and computers. He also possessed a remarkable skill set, excelling in tasks such as fixing cars, welding, repairing electronics, and worked continually to improve the family home.
Don’s work life was a source of fulfillment. He worked at the dry dock for many years starting in 1977, then at Atlantic Quality & Technical Services (AQTS) until venturing into freelance business, which he truly loved, especially when it led to his work for Davey in Levis, Quebec.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda; sons, Sheldon (Monica), Ray (Marina), and Donnie (Dianne); brother, Dennis (Tracy) Cameron and sister, Brenda (Kevin) Lamb; grandchildren, Sara and Tristan, Donald and Candice; as well as several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Russell.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis, (506-849-2119). A funeral service for Don will be held on Wednesday, July 12th at 12:00pm, Kennebecasis Funeral Home Chapel. For those who wish donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue would be appreciated by the family. Condolences may be placed online by visiting the link on the bottom of the obituary page.
