It is with sadness the family of Dolores Jacqueline “Toddies” Boudreau of Chipman announce her death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on January 4, 2023 at the age of 82. Born in Chipman, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ina (Legassie) Lemon and wife of the late Angus Boudreau. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elmer, Eileen Fasquel, Violet Duncan, Acil, Donald, Glenna Lloyd, Constance Higgins and Carey.
She is survived by one son, Laurie Boudreau of Chipman; one daughter, Kelly Tibbits (Randy) of Rothesay; grandchildren: Chrissy Boudreau (Cody) of Chipman, Travis (TJ) Boudreau of Chipman, Douglas Tibbits (Jodi) of Saint John, Abby Tibbits of Rothesay and Allie Tibbits of Rothesay; great-grandchildren: Megan, Jason, Carter, Danielle, Haley and Hudson; one brother, Murray (Nelida) of Moncton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom grew up in a loving home, one of ten children with the oldest child being 22 years older than the youngest. Shortly after her high school graduation in 1959, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis and spent the next two years in the T.B. Hospital, having to spend an entire year in bed. Upon recovery, her doctors referred to her as their “Miracle Case” as she was not expected to survive. She met the love of her life, Angus, in 1964 and they married the following year, happily married for 32 years until his death in 1997, having two children together.
Mom loved playing cards, bingo, word search puzzles, watching game shows, shopping, and collecting baby dolls. Prior to her COPD diagnosis, she loved to travel and was fortunate to travel to British Columbia, Florida, Nashville, New York and PEI. Even as her health declined, her spirit and her zest for life carried on and she made the best of her situation. She loved her extended family at the Seniors Apartment Complex – the companionship, the friendships, the pot lucks, singing, and card games. She often said that if she couldn’t be at home with Dad, living at the Complex was the next best thing.
Mom spent the past six weeks in the hospital and was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, contracted pneumonia, suffered cardiac arrest and finally kidney failure. She faced each of these afflictions with determination and kindness, with a smile on her face, which speaks to her phenomenally kind and compassionate spirit. She gave of herself without hesitation or conditions and loved her family beyond measure. She was so very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.
The family would also like to thank all those who provided support to Mom, especially her homecare workers whom she loved like family, and the many nurses who looked after her the past six weeks. You each held a special spot in Mom’s heart and we are forever grateful for your kindness.
The family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 6 – 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date in the Bronson Cemetery.
For those who wish, donations to NB Lung Association would be appreciated by her family.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. & Crematorium. (339-6612) Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca.
