Kevin passed away on Sept 3rd, 2023 at Kings County Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 25, 1949 in Upper Island Cove, Conception Bay NFLD. In recent years he faced a number of health challenges, and approached them in the same manner that he approached most of his life; without complaint and with a resolve that inspired those around him.
Survived by his loving wife Jeanne; his children, Kim (Shane), and Cory (Daniel); grandchildren, Logan (Meagan), Malcolm (Chelsey), Avery, Evan and Ari; his great grandchildren, Weston, Natalia and Jaxxon; as well as his dog, Mocha. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Bride -predeceased (Raymond), Kathleen (Dave), Nick – predeceased (Patsy), Angela, George, David (Brenda), and Gary (Renee) all from Newfoundland; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose (Spud – predeceased), Gerard (Susan), Melva (David), Penny (Glen); and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased also by his parents, Annie and Vincent; and brother-in-law Francis.
Kevin and Jeanne married over 50 years ago and quickly embarked on building not only their family but also the home in which they currently reside. In his early years, Kevin was an active member of the Georgetown Lions Club and loved to get on the ice with the Georgetown Old Timers hockey team. In his later years, you would find him happily watching any sports he could find on TV.
Kim and Cory will remember their childhood fondly with Kevin coaching various sporting teams, playing catch in the front yard, taking numerous trips to his beloved Newfoundland and sharing his love of woodworking in the basement. Among the many things the family will miss, is his signature quick “Tello” when answering the phone, his infamous bologna gravy, his absolute hatred of garlic and his eye roll when anything out of the ordinary was offered as a supper option.
Per Kevin’s wishes, an informal celebration of life will occur at his home on Saturday Sept 9th, 2023 with family and close friends welcome anytime between 2 and 4pm. Memorial donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to Kings County Memorial Hospital where Kevin and his family were given exceptional care.
