Dianne Marie Blackburn Obituary
Passed away peacefully at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre Dianne Marie Blackburn on March 9, 2024. She was 64 years of age.
Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Rita Cave, brother Dan Dillion, parents in law Richard and Patricia Blackburn and son in law John Penney.
Left to mourn her husband John Patrick Blackburn, sons Patrick and Michael (Nena), daughter Jennifer (Coran), brothers Gordon Jr. (Ann), Jim and Gary, sisters Debbie (Jim), Christine (John), Sharon (Rob), Wanda (Tom), Marlene, Michelle (Ron), Sandra (Ewen), Janet and Kerri, and 4 Grandchildren. As well as many other relatives and friends.
Dianne was born in Grand Falls-Windsor, she was a beautiful soul who unconditionally loved her husband John and their 3 children Patrick, Jennifer and Michael. Her biggest pride and joy were her 4 beautiful grandchildren Brady, Austin, Emma and Lily. Dianne loved a good part with her sisters and friends, whether it be a birthday or any other occasion. Her go to relaxation, was just sitting outside in her own yard, listening toThe Cabin Party by the fire. She has many beautiful friends whom she dearly loved. Dianne didn’t go too far from home for overnight stays, but when she did, she would be found spending the night with her friend Lil, who she often called her “other mother” just as Dianne was to a lot of kids on her block. Her favourite sport was fishing with her beautiful sisters. They’d be gone for hours and regardless of if she caught a dozen fish, or none at all, “it was still a good day.”
Dianne’s most precious moments was when she got to hold in her arms her fourth grandchild, Lily, for the first time. Lily’s visit to Nanny Blackburn always made her smile.
She was certainly a kind hearted person, who would give you the shirt off her back and was always willing to lend a hand. Dianne’s favorite saying which she said often was “Cold water is not hot.”’ It’s something her mother always said before she passed away. “Dianne didn’t have much, but she certainly had lots”.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no funeral service, a visitation will take place on Wednesday March 13th from 2 – 4. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to assist the family. John and family would like to send a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, especially nurse Tammy McDonald for the care and kindness shown, it will never be forgotten.
