Diane Roberta Scott, a cherished soul whose warmth and dedication touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at the age of 85. Born in Montreal, Diane’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her profession, and her passions.
Diane’s early years in Montreal were the foundation of a life lived with purpose and compassion. Her pursuit of knowledge and a desire to care for others led her to McGill University’s esteemed nursing program, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse through the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Her career was a testament to her dedication to healthcare and her exceptional leadership skills. As the Director of Nursing at UnionVilla Long Term Care Home in Unionville, Ontario, and later as the Director of Resident Care at Cedarview Lodge in North Vancouver, B.C., Diane’s influence was profound and lasting. She guided, nurtured, and enriched the lives of many until her well-deserved retirement when she moved to Vancouver Island.
Diane’s love story with her beloved husband, Howard Scott, was one of mutual respect, deep affection, love and laughter, having met in Montreal and married for over 60 years. Together, they built a family, welcoming their children, Karen Scott (Mark) and Brian Scott (Leah), into the world when they lived in Ontario. Diane was a compassionate and devoted Mother. Later in life, she loved her role as a grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her granddaughters, Talisa and Violet Antone. Close family members Karlina and Liora also held a special place in Diane’s heart, both loved dearly as integral parts of her family.
Diane had many interests that reflected her zest for life. An avid Bridge player, she enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of the game, fostering many friendships over the years and becoming a beloved member of the Ladies Bridge Group in Qualicum Beach. Golfing was another of Diane’s pleasures, she received the Hole in One Honour Roll award from Arrowsmith Golf Club in 2008! Diane also enjoyed hiking the trails on Vancouver Island with friends, and travelling. Winter escapes to Arizona, California and to Hawaii were treasured times and memories with friends and family.
A passionate gardener, Diane found joy in nurturing her plants and flowers with the same care and attention that she gave to every aspect of her life. Her gardens were beautiful.
Diane’s legacy is one of love, service, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life with Howard, friends and family. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by those who knew her. Her grace, her smile, her sense of humour, and her gentle nature will be profoundly missed, yet the light of her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her friends and loved ones.
As we bid farewell to Diane, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with dignity and grace. Her departure from this world leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but also a legacy of compassion, friendship, and love that will never be forgotten.
