March 21, 1967 – August 7, 2024
It is with great sorrow and sadness that Cody, Jonathon, and Christopher Wawia announce the sudden passing of their mother “Deborah Jean” at the age of 57 on Wednesday August 7, 2024, in Geraldton, ON, formally from Nipigon, ON.
Deborah Jean is survived by her sons, Christopher Wawia and Cody Wawia of Thunder Bay, ON, and Jonathon Wawia (Amy) of Atikokan ON, and her precious pride and joy – her granddaughter Elizabeth Jean Wawia of Geraldton, ON.
Also survived by sisters, Annette Wawia (Bob) (nephew Dakota and niece Cagney (Justin) of Thunder Bay, ON; Victoria Lennard (Frank), (niece Kelly (James), great-nephew Conor, Brant, of McKenzie BC; brothers Roland Odawa of Thunder Bay, ON; and Roderick Wawia Jr. (nephews Lawrence and Riley of Vancouver Island, BC, Jesse Boucher (Kolten and Addyson) of Nipigon, ON and Justin Boucher (Tracey) and nieces and nephews of Atikokan, ON; and her best friend, Claudette Rody of Geraldton, ON.
She is also survived by aunts and uncles, Clara Robert, Milton Wawia, Marvin Wawia, Elvin Wawia and Aunts Karen Wawia, Colleen Halcro and Darlene Wawia-Potan. Also survived by numerous relatives.
Deborah was predeceased by her parents Roderick Sr. and Ida (Nee Odawa) at a very young age, her son Joseph Wawia, her brother, Edward Wawia and sister Adrienne Wawia. Also predeceased by her grandparents Agnes & Ben Wawia, Matilda & Joseph Odawa, and numerous relatives and friends.
As per Debbie’s wishes cremation has taken place and her remains will be laid to rest with her father Roderick at St. Sylvester’s Church, Lake Helen, Nipigon ON.
Burial and Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
