David Ross Flanagan
October 6, 1955 – July 12, 2023
Our Family has lost a wonderful dad, grandfather, husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend.
David passed away peacefully at home in his family’s precious care on July 12, 2023 at the age of 67. David was the beloved son of Eileen (Pipes) and the late Harvey Flanagan of New Annan. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debbie (Murray); daughters, Melissa (John Carter), Ashley; sons, Fred (Tracey), Derek and Jake MacDougall; special family friend, Julie. He was the best Grampa -hands down! He will be surely missed by Dante, Brady, Megan, Maddy, Taylor and Emma. He also leaves behind sisters, Francie (Bobby) Hunt and Joan (Ivan) Jamieson; many nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Darrell Murray.
David made friends everywhere he went, both young and old, from near and far. Many knew what it was like to have an open door at the “Dew Drop Inn!” David’s kindness and generosity to extended family and young people who were fortunate enough to cross his path will feel his effects on their lives for many years to come. In his younger years, he worked at Kent Homes and was the very first employee of Robert Hunt and Sons since 1984. When his father Harvey passed away in 1996, he and Debbie took over the mail routes for Tatamagouche and later Wentworth/Westchester. He will also be missed by his Chronicle Herald paper customers, who he delivered papers to for many years in the Wentworth, New Annan and Malagash areas.
Besides his father, Harvey, he was predeceased by his brothers in law, David and Darren Murray; nephews, Terry Hunt and Ryan Hunt.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 22 from 12pm-1:45pm in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 14067 Hwy. 4, Wentworth. A Graveside Service will follow at 2pm in Bell Gift Cemetery, New Annan. Celebration and Reception will follow the service in North Shore Snowmobile Club, 554 Warwick Mtn. Rd., Tatamagouche.
Donations in David’s memory may be made to KidSport Nova Scotia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
