Findlay, David Morrow:
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Freeport Hospital at the age of 97.
Survived by his loving wife Jean and daughters Debbie (Greg) Morrison and Wendy (Gary) Hillier; granddaughters Stacey (Gary) Crosby, Tiffany Hillier, Andrea (Corey) Finnie, and Michelle (Dylan) Wick; eight great-grandchildren: Emma and Kayla Goodwin, Jacob Crosby, Dylan, Brooklyn and Kyle Finnie, and Hayden and Keaton Wicke, and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by son Paul in infancy, his parents William and Fanny Findlay, and five brothers and sisters.
Dave served in WWII with the Scots Fuseliers and on active service with the RCAF and in the army, where he fought as an infantry soldier in Northern Europe with the Royal Regiment of Canada. He was a member of the Waterloo Legion – Branch 530.
He was employed for over 40 years with MacDonald-Westbourne Electric as the credit manager.
Dave was a past Master of Waterloo Masonic Lodge #539 and a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of Mocha Shriners and past President of Waterloo Shrine Club and served as bulletin editor for 20 years.
Dave’s family will receive relatives and friends from 12 to 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467, with the service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Conducted by Rev. Wendy Paterson of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, where Dave was a life time member. Reception to follow. Cremation to take place with interment in the Veterans Section at Parkview Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
