David Bruce «Dave» Mills
1960-2024
MILLS, David Bruce
«Dave»
May 25, 1960 –
October 31, 2024, Bear River, NS.
It is with deep
sadness that the family of Dave Mills, announce his passing on October
31, 2024, at the Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal,
with his wife by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of Ronald (late) and Betty
Mills.
Dave was a long-time
employee of Canadian Tire serving as Parts Adviser in Clayton Park,
and most recently as Parts Supervisor in Digby. He made many lasting
friendships with staff and customers alike, as recently evidenced by
staff’s generous acts of kindness in building a wheelchair
ramp at his home, helping with his care, and dropping in for visits.
He was fondly referred to as «Uncle Dave» by a few of his
colleagues, and he was particularly sought out by several repeat
customers for his years of experience, advice, and
service.
Dave loved all things
science related, such as Star Trek, Star Wars. As a young boy, he had
fun messing with explosives and chemistry sets. Later on, he became
obsessed with computer games that were worth the intellectual
challenge. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and singing in the
church choir.
Dave is survived by
his wife Darlene (Titus); step-daughters Leah Nimmo and Kathryn
(Patrick) Sweeney; step-granddaughter Nora; his mother Betty; sister
Debra «Debbie» Haan; and brother Alan (Marcy) Mills. Also
surviving are his mother-in-law Bertha (Everett) Titus; sister-in-law
Wanda (John) Atwell; brothers-in-law: Glenn (Mindy) Titus and Derek
(Rose) Titus; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and fur babies Jaxson,
Donut and Latte.
He was predeceased by
his father Ronald Mills; sister Nancy (Larry – deceased)
Bourque; paternal grandparents Roscoe and Laura (Croft) Mills;
maternal grandparents Alfred and Hattie (Boone) Veysey; father-in-law
William (Bill) Titus; grandparents-in-law, Earl and Gytha (Graham)
Titus and Hiram and Goldie Everett; and special fur baby
Harlan.
Visitation will be
held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by the funeral service at
1:00 p.m. with Reverend George Russell officiating, on Saturday,
November 9, 2024 in the White Family Funeral Home, 100 Bridge Street,
Kentville, NS. The service will be live streamed for those unable to
attend. Interment at the Garden of Peace Cemetery, Victoria
Beach. Reception to follow at the Lower Granville Hall, 3551
