Obituary
NEWELL, David Arthur – 81, of Port La Tour passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Roseway Hospital, Shelburne. Born on March 25, 1941, he was the son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Doane) Newell. David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda (Smith); children, Evelyn Fidler, Edward (Terrianne); grandchildren, Alexander, Joanna, Nathan, Gregory; sister, Violet; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Forman, Clifford, Lloyd, Kenneth, Lindsey, Albert, Ena, Beatrice, Marie, Ethel, Evelyn, Muriel, Pauline, and John “Jackie”. David was a fisherman working on the ocean during his working life. He enjoyed visiting family and friends. The Toronto Blue Jays was his favourite baseball team and he tried to tell them how to play from his Lazyboy Chair. Arrangements have been entrusted to H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There will be a graveside held Thursday, March 16, at 2 pm at the Woodside Cemetery, Port La Tour, with Pastor Vince Robertson officiating.
