Obituary of Daniel MIchael Holt
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and nephew, Daniel Michael Holt on October 7, 2023. Daniel was 42 when he died while travelling near Mérida, Venezuela.
He is survived by his parents Renée Silberman (Ted Medzon) and Richard Holt (Mila Kagan); his devoted siblings Benjamin (Laura Monner) and Nina; his cherished niece Annika and nephew Aaron; his loving Uncle Steven Silberman (Lynn) and their children Michael and Ted.
Daniel attended London Central Secondary School and McGill University. He was an open-minded and curious person who enjoyed exploring the world. He spent time in Montreal, Victoria, and Vancouver, before setting off for further adventures abroad.
Daniel was at once a deep thinker and a quick-witted joker. He was a naturally gifted learner who picked up new skills easily, from computer programming to music and languages. He loved reading, writing travelogs and popular science articles, running super marathons, spending time in nature in a host of activities, and trying new foods. Daniel was generous to those around him, and always enjoyed a satisfying laugh with friends. An immensely talented person, Daniel left the world far too soon but not without making an enduring impact on the people in his life.
Contributions in honour and in memory of Daniel may be made to the London Youth Symphony; Leket Canada; or to the charity of your choice.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Or Shalom Synagogue, 534 Huron Street, London.
Interment to follow in Or Shalom Cemetery.
