It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that the family announces the passing of Danica Dolanjski on March 29, at the age of 82. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Tom, sons Tom (Lisa Mackey) and Paul (Carla), grandchildren Andrea Mulder (Greg), Lucas and Mya Dolanjski and great-grandchildren Dylan and Brody Mulder. Danica also leaves behind her sisters Zorica Vori and Ankica Mišić and brother Vlade Iviček, and their extended families as well as sister-in-law Ljuba Dolanjski, nieces Milica and Ankica (Ivica) and cousin, Stefi Petrinac. She was predeceased by her parents Mate and Jagica Iviček, brother-in-laws Vlade Dolanjski and Damir Vori and niece Ljubica Dolanjski. Danica was also a special Kuma to her godchildren, Eddie Cepuran and Darlene Polowy. Danica loved her family, extended family, neighbours and friends and was truly sustained by their love in return.
Danica was born in Svete Jana, Jastrebarsko, Croatia and emigrated to Canada in 1959 to join the love of her life Tom in Schumacher, Ontario. Danica was a generous, kind and loving person who demonstrated these qualities everyday in her role as wife, mother and most special Baba. She worked as a cook in restaurants in Schumacher, the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor and as head cook at St. Mary’s General Hospital, a job which she cherished and did exceptional work. She endured many years of diminished mobility with grace and strength and despite her failing health, continued to cook and bake the most amazing food that anyone who was fortunate enough to experience will always remember.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Manor who took wonderful care of their “Milo” over these last few years.
A private family service will be held. A celebration of life will occur in the summer months to include family, friends and food as the most fitting tribute to a remarkable woman. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home. Remembrance donations to the Golden Manor Redevelopment Project would be greatly appreciated.
