Cyril (Man) David Tucker Jr passed peacefully away on Friday, January 12th, 2024 while surrounded by family. He was born in Mainland, NL on January 15, 1937. He shared 61 years of marriage with his beloved wife Evangeline (Vange) Tucker nee Drake, raising a loving family of five children together.
Cyril’s journey led him through the early days of adulthood in the Armed Forces and service at the American Military Base in Stephenville. Transitioning into a nearly 50-year career as a dedicated fisherman, he finally cast his last lobster pot at the age of 83.
Affectionately known as «Man Tucker» Cyril became a local legend whose reputation preceded him. His widely known nickname echoed through the community, underscoring the depth of his character. Beyond the seas, he was a man of many talents, a jack of all trades who exemplified the true meaning of hard work.
Cyril’s strength was not only physical but also reflected in his unwavering will and sharp mind. Quick in the tongue and uncannily witty, he never shied away from a lively debate, especially when he knew he was right. Yet, beneath the spirited arguments lay a heart generous enough to give the shirt off his back and share the food from his plate.
He leaves to mourn with many loving memories: children: Colleen (Tom) Bullen, Sherry (Brian) Marche, Glenda (Norm) Strickland, Neil (Colleen) Tucker, and Karen (Gary) Tucker; grandchildren: Adam, Evan, Josh, William, Maddison, Brady, Krista, Laura, Barb, Devon, Alyssa, David, Aimee, Dante, Geneva, Casandra, and Samantha; great grandchildren: Koby, Addison, Avery, Lennox, Cohen, Amelia, and Emmett; siblings: Stella (Jerry) Doyle and Roderick Tucker; and brother-in-law Jerry Doyle; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Cyril was predeceased by: wife Evangeline “Vange”; parents Cyril and Mary (nee Lainey) Tucker; and siblings: Patsy, Loretta, Adolph, and Jimmy.
A visitation will take place on Monday, January 15th from 2:00-9:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Lourdes. From where the funeral service will also be held on Tuesday, January 16th at 10:00 AM.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Theresa, Tracy, and Steven. Also to Dr. Mercer, Wendy Squires, Dr. Porter, and the nursing staff at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their care and support.
As we bid farewell to Cyril, let us remember the warmth he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the indelible mark he left on all who were fortunate to know him. May his memory be a guiding light for generations to come.
