Curtis Neil Kayfish, age 47, passed away suddenly in Victoria, BC April 21, 2024. Curtis grew up in a loving home in Claresholm Alberta, where he was known to all as fun loving and a ray of joy to those around him. He was the proud father of his beloved daughters River and Autumn Kayfish.
Curtis ventured out into the world sharing his good nature with the communities of Lethbridge, Iqaluit Nunavut, Victoria and settling in Armstong BC. He worked as a dedicated public servant for the province of BC as an information technology professional supporting people in communities all over the province connect with services to get the support and information they need. He was considered a guru in the work he did and deeply respected by his colleagues for his skills and commitment.
Curtis loved being a father most of all. He enjoyed music, playing guitar, camping, fishing, and being on his boat. He had a lifelong interest in science, theoretical physics most of all. This fueled his love of science fiction and he was always ready to talk about his favorite books and authors. He was an excellent poker player relishing the use of math combined with the nuances of competing with others. Curtis participated in many online communities since the early days of bulletin boards to modern social media and often played the role of mediator seeking to bring balance to the issues he commented on.
Curtis loved his family and would make a point to tell them that he loved and appreciated them as often and with hugs.
Curtis is survived by his daughters River and Autumn, his son Dawson Pikuyak, mother Linda Kayfish, and brothers Lance and Kyle Kayfish. He will also be missed dearly by his nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Curtis had a knack for making friends easily and had many.
Curtis was proceeded in death by his father Doug Kayfish who was kindred spirit, it’s a comfort to know they will be overjoyed to be reunited in the next life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Cypress Funeral & Cremation Services (2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
