Consuelo Valenton Fausto passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024 at Marian Residence Retirement Home, Cambridge, at the age of 92.
Predeceased by her devoted husband and soulmate, Ambrosio.
Loving mother of Victoria, Arnel (Christine), Dina (John), Jocelyn (Dieter), Bruce (Douglas) and Marcelle (Robert).
Cherished «Lola» to Liam (Christina), Monika (Luke), Pierce (Cassandra), Olivia, Alexander and Evelyn.
Consuelo will be sadly missed by her sister Beatriz Atienza, her many nieces and nephews, her Marian Residence family, and the numerous friends whose lives she touched.
Consuelo, «Connie» or «Ine» to friends, was born on October 1931 in Talavera, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, to Eusebio and Consuelo (née Jacinto) Valenton, the 12th of 14 children. Although she witnessed the Japanese occupation during WWII, Consuelo retained her natural optimism and sense of hope, which she carried throughout her life. Fiercely intelligent and creative, she was the valedictorian of her graduation class at Philippine Normal University. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Ambrosio, having first met him in Grade 1. The birth of their six children brought joy to the couple’s life and Consuelo instilled her love of learning to her kids and to the students that she taught in elementary school.
In 1971, Ambrosio left the Philippines to start in a new life in Canada. A year later, Consuelo courageously packed up her six kids, to join him in Waterloo. Circumstances did not allow for Consuelo to be able to teach in her new country, but she found satisfaction in her work at Sunbeam Home in Kitchener.
Consuelo was a deeply spiritual woman, and she joyfully shared God’s love with others. She was an active parish leader in the St. Aloysius Church, involved in many faith-based activities, founded the local chapter of the Legion of Mary and was a dedicated volunteer at Trinity Village. An inspiration and mentor in the community, her empathy also made her a chosen advisor and trusted confidante to many. Consuelo’s unyielding faith would later sustain her in the difficult years following the death of Ambrosio in 2021 and her own declining health.
Parenting six children was not an easy task, but Consuelo was a loving and understanding mother, one who put happy-faced notes in school lunches and never hesitated to advocate for her kids when needed. She had a well-honed sense of humour and her children delighted in eliciting her legendary giggle fits. The retirement years were a happy time for Consuelo, and she and Ambrosio enjoyed fishing trips and went on pilgrimages in Canada and Europe.
Cooking was one of Consuelo’s passions, and the Fausto home was a popular gathering place. There was always more than enough food for visitors, and for her children’s friends who never wanted to leave. Family and fortunate guests will remember Consuelo’s specialties – her famous chicken wings, adobo and pancit.
Consuelo’s life on earth is over but she is at the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey in the arms of our Lord.
Consuelo’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, September 27th, 2024 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener , 519-749-8467. Prayers at 7:00pm.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church (Cambridge) on September 28, 2024 at 10:30 AM. All are welcome to join the family for time of fellowship and refreshment in the church hall immediately following the mass.

The family is grateful to the incredible Cambridge palliative team – Dr. Celine Sandor, the caring nurses and the many dedicated e-shift PSWs.
