It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our sister Colleen Mae Cayen. She passed from this life to the next on May 4,2024.
In her youth Colleen entered the Grey Sisters in Pembroke as Sister Mark Marie. Her discernment during this time led her out of religious life to a full time commitment of personal educational growth and teaching with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board. Colleen was a dedicated teacher for 31 years. She embraced with joy and great commitment the opportunities to inspire learning in her students as well as sharing her remarkable sense of adventure.
Colleen left us during her favourite season of spring. We trust she is delighting in planning and planting her garden for us all to harvest together when we meet again.
Colleen leaves behind Cheryl ( Rick, deceased ), Wendy ( Kirsten ), Rhonda ( Ray, deceased ), Mark ( Megan ) and Gayle ( Jeff ). As well as her nieces and nephews Leigh, Jennifer ( Jeff ), Raymond ( Brenda ),Duane Eugene ( Terri Ann ), Sara ( Ryan ), Emma ( Patryk ) and Hannah; and great nieces and nephews, Willow, Hudson, Tessa, Jake, Jayda, Derek, Jack, Caleb, Laurel, Kyle, Lucy and Violet.
Colleen is pre-deceased by her parents Betty and Romeo Cayen, her brother Rick Cayen and her brother in law Ray Ryan.
There will be a funeral mass at our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Petawawa on Friday May 17 at 12:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Interment will be at St Mary’s cemetery North Bay on Saturday May 18 at 2:00 p.m.
Colleen has requested that any donations be made to the Special Olympics of Pembroke.
