With great sadness, we announce the passing of Coleen Carroll
Jones, on July 10, 2023.
Born in 1952 to Edwin Carroll and Dorothy Anderson
(Deceased), Coleen was the oldest of seven children. In her teenage
years, she started dating, Francis Jones, who she married in 1972 in
Guysborough, Nova Scotia. Shortly after, they relocated to Antigonish,
raising their two children, Chris and Cara.
Coleen loved helping others, and her passion for education
and life-long learning was a prominent leadership quality during her
career as a small business owner (Arbor Creations) and at St. Francis
Xavier University in the Masters of Education program. A passionate
community connector, Coleen often created a home away from home for
many international students. Her daughter, Cara, fondly remembers the
constant diversity at their kitchen table and her mother’s ability to
bring people together from different cultures and generations with her
delicious meals and baked treats.
Coleen shared her love of exploring new things when she
became a grandmother to her first grandchild, Cole. In his younger
years, the two were often seen at the library reading new books, on
camping adventures in P.E.I and creating fun ways to foster his
imagination. Coleen adored her time as a grandmother and was thrilled
to welcome two new grandchildren, Philip and Claire.
Coleen is survived by her loving husband, Francis, son Chris
and daughter-in-law Mirelle (Quebec), daughter Cara, (Grande Prairie),
grandchildren Cole (Grande Prairie), Philip and Claire
(Quebec).
Special Thanks to the wonderful CCA’s and nursing staff at
the RK MacDonald Nursing home.
