Catherine ‘Kaye’ Blanche Morgan (Peeples) – Age 79, Cleveland, Nova Scotia
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Kaye Morgan, on Friday, November 8, 2024, in Colchester East Hants Health Center, Truro, with family members at her bedside. Born in Antigonish at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on December 5, 1944, Kaye was the daughter of the late Earl and Christine (MacDonald) Peeples, Point Tupper, Nova Scotia.
Mom was a graduate from St. Peter’s High School, and it was there she met the love of her life, our dad, Alexander James (AJ) Morgan. Mom enjoyed a long-lasting career at Sears in Port Hawkesbury from which she retired. Our mom was an amazingly special person in our life; someone who you could turn to for support, advice, and understanding. She had quiet strength and determination. Mom was a true lady, who had a reputation of having an incredibly positive and caring personality that endeared her to everyone that had the privilege of having her in their lives. She was someone whose kindness and positive energy left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Mom was a beacon of warmth and grace.
Mom thoroughly enjoyed having her nieces and nephews stop in for visits over the years, and always treated each one with the same love and affection that she treated her own children. She was an avid Crib and 45s player and for someone so gentle in personality, it was the only time she showed her competitive spirit. When mom played cards, she played for the win and nothing else mattered. She always had a roll of quarters ready to go and enjoyed her hundreds of games and tournaments of 45s over the years. She was always excited to bring home the winnings whether it was a cash prize or free supper.
Our mom is survived by her loving children; her son Darryl (Lorilee); daughter Kimberly (Glenn); She is also survived by her brother Wesley Peeples (Lillian); sisters Marg Wilkins and Anna MacIntyre (Peter); her brothers-in-law Winston Morgan, Roddie Morgan (Shirley), John Morgan, Kevin Corbett; sister-in-law Lee Passmore (Jim) and Emily Morgan. Mom’s pride and joy were her grandchildren McKynlie, Kallyn (Amanda), Cheltyn (Jake), Cabot, Amy, and Jonah Morgan; Amanda (Gabriel), Liam (Aggie) Bolger; Great Grandchildren, Adaline, and in her final days, mom was blessed to have met via FaceTime her 1st Great Grandson, Owen Patrick who entered this world November 1, 2024. As the saying goes, ‘As one chapter ends, another begins’; Sister-by-Choice and Best Friend, Mora Baldwin; many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, mom was predeceased by our dad, Alexander James (A.J.) Morgan, her in-laws Robert and Veronica (Steele) Morgan, her brother Murdo Peeples, her brothers-in-law, Harold Wilkins, Gerald Morgan, Robert Morgan, Walter Morgan, and Jim Dwyer; sisters-in-law, Sharon Corbett, Judy Dwyer, Florence Morgan, Paddy Morgan.
We want to extend a special thank you to all the VON Staff who provided Homecare to our mom over the last month, the Canadian Red Cross, and to Lorilee Morash for opening her home and her heart to our mother. Also, a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses who provided the loving care to our mom at the Colchester East Hants Health Center in Truro.
A visitation will take place at Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 2pm – 4pm, and 6pm – 9pm. A service celebrating our mom’s life will take place Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 2pm at St. Mark’s United Church, 504 Bernard St, Port Hawkesbury, NS, with Jim MacNaughton officiating. Reception to follow. Private burial to follow.
Donations may be to the Port Hawkesbury Food Bank, Palliative Care, and St. Mark’s United Church. Words of Comfort may be forwarded to the family: www.haverstocks.com.
She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street.
She’s the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself.
She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well.
She’s your breath in the air on a cold winter’s day.
She’s the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep , the colors of a rainbow.
She is Christmas morning.
Your mother lives inside your laughter.
She’s the place you come from, your first home.
She’s the map you follow with every step you take.
She’s your first love, your first friend, and even your first enemy.
But nothing on Earth can separate you.
Not Time, Not Space, Not Even Death.
