It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Catherine «Cathy» Campbell on February 3, 2024 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Brookline, MA. She was 97 years old.
Predeceased by her parents James Campbell and Annie Laurie (Gillis) of Harbour View, N.S. Her brothers. Jack (Louise) Campbell, Ancaster, ON and Erwin Campbell, Brookline. Survived by her sisters Marion (and the late Duncan T) MacDonald, Harbour View, Rose (and the late Alexander) MacDonald, Niagara Falls; her brothers, Daniel Campbell and James Campbell of Brookline; and Omer (Maud) Campbell of Harbour View. Also by her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.
Cathy left Cape Breton by train for New York City in 1946. A few years later she moved to Brookline where she worked as a hairdresser until her retirement. She was the matriarch of a close and loving family. Cathy spent a lifetime filled with selfless dedication to her parents, brothers and sisters. She looked forward to and loved visiting her home in Cape Breton each summer. In Brookline, her door was always open to her nieces, nephews and all their friends. Her extreme generosity and hospitality extended to them will never be forgotten. Cathy’s cheerful, warm and wonderful presence will remain cherished in our memories forever.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 2 -4pm at the Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11am at St. Peter’s Parish, Port Hood.
