Roussy, Carolyn (1941-2023)
Carolyn was born to Midred and Edgar Lloyd on January 27th 1941, in Gatchell, ON. She was the youngest of six children. Audrey Limoges and the late Doreen Rissling, Jim Lloyd, Arden Lloyd, and Grant Lloyd. Throughout her life she made sure her siblings were loved and well taken care of.
Then Carolyn met and married the love of her life Leo Roussy in 1961, and they had three children; Paul, Steven, and Cheryl. Leo and Carolyn enjoyed 54 years together before Leo’s passing in 2015. His passing left a massive void in Carolyn’s life which her son Steven quickly filled by taking care of her every need, ensuing her favorite programs were on and that she got to hear Audrey’s voice each night before bedtime.
Throughout her life Carolyn was not only an amazing sister she was also an amazing Auntie to many wonderful nieces and nephews. Her many visits to London often ended with a game of tag which left everyone in fits of laughter. She also had the pleasure through social media to watch as her great nieces and nephews grew and started families of their own. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow and succeed in life. She was a proud Auntie!
From an early age, Carolyn worked for Great West Life and then she moved to Confederation life to take on the role as Branch Administrator before retiring in 1993. While both her and Leo were retired, they never stopped living and put all their love and efforts into spending as much time with their granddaughters or “dollies” as Dad used to call them, Kassandra, Sydney, and Tayler. The grandkids were blessed to have such adoring grandparents and over the past three and a half years Carolyn was also blessed to get to know her great grandson, little Leo. Carolyn enjoyed many visits with Tayler and Leo learning about Leo’s dinosaurs, while Leo showered her with hugs and kisses and many ‘I love you GGs’. The smiles they shared were priceless and the time he spent with her brought her much joy. As did her visits with Sydney and Tayler.
Carolyn and Leo were always forming new friendships and renewing old ones in McCrea Heights as they organized many celebrations and gatherings at the family pool. Carolyn was like a mother to many and welcomed all who visited their home. Carolyn spent 50 years in her home in McCrea Heights playing cards with “the ladies” and helping out the neighbours with various projects. In the end, she enjoyed visits from those who lived in the neighborhood, and we know she will be missed by many as she embodied the spirit of, “it takes a village to raise a child”.
Carolyn’s family takes comfort in knowing she is now dancing with Dad and celebrating their lives with many friends and family who have also passed. As per Carolyn’s wishes she has been cremated. A celebration of life will be held this summer for those that wish to share memories. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn wanted her family and friends to hug a loved one and tell them how special they are as life is too short.
