Gibbons Carole Elizabeth
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Carole Gibbons, aged 80, on January 2nd. Carole died peacefully at home after a short illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Ruby Penney; her daughter Janice Walsh; her brother Derek, and husband Val Gibbons.
Leaving to mourn her long term devoted partner Eric Connolly; brother Ian Penney (Maureen Barry); son –in- law Glen White; sisters –in- law Rosemary Penney; Peggy Tomlinson (Derrick Barbour) brothers –in law Gerry Connolly (Alice); and Karl Connolly; step –children Glen Connolly; Rick Gibbons (Kathy); Ken Gibbons (Lori); Mark Gibbons (Deanne); Jim Gibbons (Yvonne) Dean Gibbons; cousins Glenys Drodge (Gordon) Kathryn Babstock (Bill) and David Penney as well as a number of nieces and nephews she cherished; and a number of friends, in particular her yoga group buddies, and her roller skating friends.
Carole had a deep commitment to her family, and was a devoted Mother to her only child and best friend Janice, who died in 2018. She possessed great courage and resilience through the tragedies in her life, and also lived fully, with love, and humour. Carole remained active until a few short weeks ago. She enjoyed yoga, cooking, coffee with the girls, dancing at the 30 plus club, and dinners with her family.
During her short hospital stay, and with an uncertain diagnosis, she expressed gratitude for her life, and peaceful acceptance for whatever the future held. Carole was a huge part of our lives, and while we are heart broken and will miss her always, we are so grateful for all the wonderful memories and for her love. In accordance with Carole’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family internment was held at the Columbarium at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where Carole’s ashes will rest with her beloved Janice. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
