Passed away peacefully, on August 13, 2023, at the age of 78, with her loving family by her side. Devoted wife of Ernie for 56 years. Amazing mother of Pamela Sleiman (Jeff), Stephanie Dunphy (Dana), William (Ynah). World’s greatest Nana of Cassandra, Zeina, Maya, Dustin, Christian, Kaitlynn, Ally, Breanna, Jordan and Randy. Dear sister of Michael Bates (Leslie), Jackie Mailloux (Rick), Peter Bates (Kathy), Susan Wessel (the late Kevin), Charles Bates, and predeceased by John Bates and Paul Bates. Also predeceased by her parents Jack and Marguerite Bates, as well as her mother and father-in law Derna and Ted Mellanby. Carol will be forever remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Carol was incredibly selfless and loving, always putting others needs before her own. She was fiercely protective of all those whom she loved. Carol was always available to sit with her Tetley tea and listen to all who came to her kitchen table. She was an amazing cook, and her deviled eggs, zucchini bread and banana bread were in high demand.
Special thanks to the staff of Windsor Regional Hospital campuses for their compassionate and loving care. The family is eternally grateful to the EMT’s, nurses and doctors during these most difficult times.

A private family service was held and cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Carol’s Life will take place on Sunday, August 20th, 2023 from 1:00 p.m.-5:00p.m. at RCL Branch #644, 1570 Marentette Ave.
