It is with much sadness that we announce the sudden death of Carol Charmaine Duchemin (née Elliott) on Thursday December 22, 2022, at the Upper River Valley Hospital, at the age of 79.
Born August 19, 1943 in Woodstock, New Brunswick to Beatrice and Ross Elliott of Debec. Carol grew up in Debec and graduated from Debec Consolidated High School, where she was active in basketball and drama, winning several drama awards.
A graduate of the Victoria Public Hospital School of Nursing, Carol served most of her career as an R.N. in Woodstock at the Carleton Memorial Hospital in the nursery ward. Upon her retirement she was a regular volunteer at the Upper River Valley Hospital.
Carol was an active community supporter and a founding member of the Debec Recreation Council. In her later years she was a regular member of the Debec Tuesday Quilters.
Carol spent over 50 years as a leader in the Girl Guides of Canada at all levels, from Sparks to Pathfinders. She served as District Commissioner, Area Commissioner, Trainer, and she held a position with the Provincial Trefoil Guild. Carol attended numerous Canadian and Provincial Guide Camps as Camp Nurse.
Carol loved music, and she loved to sing. She was an avid barbershop singer, and later sang with the Tuesday Night Singers choir for many years.
Carol loved to travel and took several trips to Europe. She would think nothing of hopping in her car with family or friends for road trips across Canada and the USA.
