Carmel Browning Obituary
Carmel Browning (Robertson), wife of the late Eric W. Browning of Wilberforce and formerly Toronto ON, passed away peacefully January 18, 2024 at the age of 102. Born in Tabusintac NB, the daughter of the late John & Christina Robertson (Harding). Carmel was a homemaker, seamstress by profession, and one of the original “Bomb Girls” aiding the war effort at the GECO Scarborough plant and later working for Canadian Controllers. She belonged to Westview Presbyterian Church where her knitting and sewing skills were always appreciated at the bazaars. She is survived by her son Gregory (late Susan) of Tweed, daughters Susan ”Sue” Grant (Norm) of Trenton, Debra Sing (Don) of Vancouver, sister Margaret Rose MacCallum (late Len) of Tabusintac and sisters in law Rubena,Mary, and Lilly. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Terry (Cathy), Arthur (Carmen), Angelique (Brett), Dave (Clara), James (Darcy), Steve (Johanna), Alison (Jason), Jeremy, Derek, Jaclyn (Darek), Kristen (James) and her great grandchildren; Jessica, Tyler, Julian, Kira, Riley, Jacob, Jaxon, Ryan, Victoria, Reba and Damien. Fondly remembered by her many loving nieces, nephews and caring Wilberforce friends. Besides her husband and parents, Carmel was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl, her 3 grandsons Eric and David Thorne and Bryan Grant, sister Hazel MacDonald (Byron), brother Stanley, stepfather Richard and infant sister Ruthie Price. Known for her generous and loving nature, her beautiful blue eyes, and giver of “Best Hugs Ever” she will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her. There will be a Celebration of Life in Wilberforce at a later date, when she will be laid to rest with Eric, her loving husband of 68 years.
