Mr. Calvin William Crane of Spaniard’s Bay, passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Mr. Crane was 75 years old.

Sister-in-law: Elizabeth

Mr. Crane was an active advocate for Veterans and the Veteran community. He was a very active member of Canadian Legion Branch (RCL) Branch #9. He has held various executive positions and was a member of several committees. Mr. Crane was also a past president of the RCL’s Newfoundland & Labrador Command. He became Chair of the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion, Legion Action Committee. Since that time, Mr. Crane worked on a project to add a new specialized wing to the Pavilion which would focus care on Veterans with dementia-type illnesses.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, 488 Conception Bay Highway, Spaniard’s Bay on Thursday: 11:30 A.M.-9 P.M. and Friday: 10:30 A.M.-12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy donations may be made in his loving memory to St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Upper Island Cove or the Corp. Matthew Brazil Student Scholarship Fund (Legion Branch #9).
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 2 P.M. from St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Upper Island Cove. Interment will follow at a later date.
