Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, retired Correctional Officer Calvin Steven Fry, age 73 of Spaniard’s Bay, (formally of Brigus).
Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Grace Fry (nee Hoskins); Sisters Margaret and Yvonne; and loving wife Emmie (Noseworthy).
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: daughter Margaret (Matt), sons: Craig (Vicky), Justin (Jessica) & Daniel; brothers: Wayne (Julia) & Chris (Joyce), grandchildren: Malachy, April, Mikael, Gracie, Naomi, Willow & Reed; Brothers: Chris (Joyce) & Wayne (Julia); Brother-in-law: David; Special Friend: Ron and a large number of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Upon his retirement, he trained as a cook and boy could he put together some “sweet” deserts. He also worked from paving in Alberta, to the fish plants in Brigus and Port De Grave. He had a strong work ethic and a zest for life.
Upon his full time retirement, he turned his passion for work to St. Georges Heritage, the church of his youth. Along with good friend Lorne Rose and cousin Avery Fry, they reclaimed the old cemetery next to the church, and he tended the Anglican cemetery on the hill.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, L.T. Stick Drive, Bay Roberts on Wednesday: 7-9 P.M., Thursday: 10:30 A.M.-5 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. and Friday: 10:30 A.M.012 Noon. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Calvin S. Fry Memorial Fund. Email Transfers can be sent to sladesfunearlhomenl@gmail.com, password: calvin. Please include a note stating what or whom the donation is for.
The Funeral Service will be held at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard’s Bay on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 2 P.M. Interment will follow at a later date.
