Obituary
CURRIE, Calvin “Greg” Emmanual – 39, of North East Point, passed away at home on July 5, 2023. Born in in Shelburne at the Roseway Hospital, he was the son of James Currie, Shelburne, and Marie (Stuart) Currie, North East Point, Cape Sable Island. Besides his parents Greg is survived by his loving brother, Kevin James; beloved maternal Aunt and Uncle, Joan and Murray Atkinson, who were like his second parents and their daughter, Anne. Greg is also survived by his pride and joy, his fur baby cat, “Annabelle”. Also survived by, maternal Aunt and Uncle, Jean and Robert Hopkins; maternal uncles, Leonard Stuart (Sandra), James Stuart (Donna); paternal aunts, Joanne Seaboyer (Harold), Lilyanne Roache (St. Clair), Bonnie Williams (Harvey), Laurie Whynot (Larry); paternal uncle, Bill Williams; also numerous cousins. Greg is also survived by Victor Blades as well as his Dad’s partner, Larry Smith, of which he shared a very special friendship. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, James and Margaret Stuart; and his paternal grandparents, Emanual and Julia Currie. At the time of his death Greg was employed with No Frills in Barrington. Greg had an infectious smile; he would light up a room with that smile. He was very close to his brother of whom he loved very dearly. He loved all sports but his passions were the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs, he had many discussions with many people about these two teams. Greg took part in Special Olympics, he and his team won many awards. This weekend he was planning to take part in competing at Acadia University. Greg was a member of the Barrington Lion’s Club. Greg lived life to the fullest; he was loved by many and will missed forever. Our hearts are crushed. Greg’s remains will be resting at the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. There will be a visitation held from 6-8 pm, Monday, July 10, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, where the funeral service will follow, Tuesday, July 11, at 2 pm with Rev Shaun Hatfield officiating. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Special Olympics or a charity of choice.
