Predeceased by her late husband’s siblings, Nicolo (Angela) Macaluso, Josephine (Salvatore) Brucculeri, and Vince Macaluso.
She will be profoundly missed by several nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, England and Italy. Deepest thanks to the staff at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital, especially Dr. Sheldon Lewis, nurses Shelly Sinclair and Christine Priest. Thank you as well to our family from Hamilton for all the supportive phone calls and visits.
An immigrant from Racalmuto, Sicily, Lina embraced her new country, and set out to build a better life in “the land of the future.”
A resilient spirit, Lina exuded a zest for life, relishing learning, travelling, and overcoming life’s challenges.
She was a talented businesswoman, and with her husband, owned and operated Macaluso Variety and Gifts for over 40 years. She also was a proud Avon Lady, often exceeding sales targets.
A devoted mother, Lina was a steadfast supporter of her children’s dreams, guiding them throughout their lives and celebrating their accomplishments.
Family was at the core of her being. A true matriarch, her decision to come to Canada and inspire other siblings to follow has had a significant impact on Canadian society. Her Canadian family now includes artists, scientists, builders, skilled trades, accountants, doctors, lawyers, journalists and educators.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, Ontario Friday September 27 from 4pm to 8pm.
