Burnes Gemma Amelia Grimmond (July 16, 1928 – February 15, 2024) born in Guyana. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Burnes, also affectionately known as Meighan, on February 15, 2024, in her 96th year. Burnes was the loving and devoted wife of the late David Grimmond, and loving and adored mother to Claude, Albert (deceased), David, Louis, Keith, Martin and Eldica. She leaves behind a brother, George Sulker-Hutson in London, England. She was widely known as “granny” to many. She has numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will miss her happy, loving and warm personality. Burnes had been a very active member of the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church in Richmond Hill. She also had many happy memories at the Chartwell Gibson Long Term Care Centre in North York. Burnes will be missed by all who have had the pleasure to know her for her kindness and caring nature. A visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Thursday, February 22nd from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, 10066 Yonge St., Richmond Hill on Saturday, February 24th at 10 a.m. Interment Richmond Hill Presbyterian Cemetery in the spring.
