Bruno Franceschini passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at Blanche River Health in Kirkland Lake Ontario, after bravely fighting a long battle with cancer, on Wednesday June 21st, 2023 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Helen for 60 years, loving Dad to Mike (Michelle Stephenson) and Dan (Nadine) and Papa to Mitchell (Ann-Marie Tabler) and Derek (Sara) and Laura, Matthew (Dayna Wong) and Jaclyn (Stephen Kirkpatrick). Predeceased by his sister Eda Pearce (2020) and survived by his brother Gino (Kathie). Fondly remembered by his nephews, nieces and friends. He retired as Director of Works for the Town of Kirkland Lake in 1991 and had been a member of the Lion’s Club and a Mason. His filled his life with family, art, outdoors activities (hunting, fishing, hiking), and a need for constant learning and exploration. No trail was long enough to tire him out. There was always one more corner to explore. He split his time between their condo in Lindsay, Ontario and their cottage, which they built themselves, on Kenogami Lake, Ontario. He was so happy to make it up there, one more time, this year. Special thanks to the Dialysis nurses at Ross Memorial and Timmins and District Hospital, and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Blanche River Health where he spent his last few days. There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 28 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and Thursday, June 29 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation – dialysis department or Timmins and District Hospital Foundation. Donations may be made by cheque through the funeral home or online at www.mackeys.ca
