Bruce Regular Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Regular on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 79 years. He passed suddenly at home and is now at peace. Bruce was born August 17, 1944, to Angus and Georgina Regular in his beloved hometown of Botwood. Bruce loved his family, music, and his community. He felt so blessed for his grandchildren.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents; Angus and Georgina; brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Verna; brothers-in-law; Thomas Elliott, Samuel Mercer, and John Mercer and father and mother-in-law, Eli and Adeline Mercer. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Florence, two sons, Michael (Wanda) and Kirk (Zoe), five grandchildren; Nicole, Miranda, Matthew, Anna, and Chloe, and Brittany Seaward, embraced as one of the family. His surviving siblings are Vera, Loraine (Rex), James (Brenda), and sisters-in-law; Carol (Ed), Jackie and Janice, brothers-in-law; Harry (Susan), James and Junior (Gail). He is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, extended family and life long friends.
Bruce met his lifelong sweetheart at 17 and after a brief plumbing career with his father, supported his family as a numbers guy, working for the bank, AE Hickman and Sons, and finally retiring from NL Hydro. He was a tax consultant to friends and family throughout his years. His musical talent came at an early age and performing with the Rhythm Beats, starting at 16, was his food for the soul. He is now playing again with his band mates, Roy Hynes and Garfield Langdon, among so many others.
Bruce was a committed and dedicated member of the community. He served as past master of the Masonic Lodge, gave time to the Lions Club, the Church, and other community organizations. He enjoyed the adventures of travel, playing music for local functions, especially the seniors, and wrestling was the only show better than The Young and the Restless. The St. James Anglican Church was his spiritual home and he volunteered his time there whenever he was able.
Special thanks to Dr. J. Woolfrey at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre and the many specialists he encountered in life for so many medical miracles over the past 40 years.
Pallbearers; Sons Michael and Kirk, Nephew Paul Regular, and Grandchildren, Nicole, Anna, and Matthew.
In lieu of flowers Bruce would wish you make a donation to the St. James Anglican Church in Botwood or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me. Remember the best times,
the laughter, the songs, The good of my life I lived while
still strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling, and surely, The sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all… how I was truly blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small,
Go on with your life, Don’t just stare at the wall.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,
Until the day comes, that we’re together again.”
