Brian Hawco Age 64 years.
It is with tremendous sadness we announce the peaceful passing of beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and cherished friend on September 27, 2024, at home surrounded by loving family after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his father James Hawco; infant brother James Hawco; Brother-in-law, Aiden Whelan; Mother- in law, Dorothy Oates.
Leaving to mourn with broken hearts but many fond memories his loving wife of 15 years Darlene Hawco, his Step Daughters, Amy (Tim), Allison, and Julie; Daughter (Krystyn); Granddaughter: Nevaeh and Nyah; Grandson, Riley; Mother; Mary; Brothers: Edmund, Wayne (Madonna), Terry (Bev), Gary (Darlene); Sisters: Marlene (Gerry), Audrey, and Cynthia; Father in law, Charlie Oates; Sister in laws: Bonnie (Dave), Debbie (Donny), Paula (Keith), Dolores (Gary); as well as his many nieces and nephews, and a large circle of relatives and friends.
A special thank you to Brians step daughter Julie and Sister-in-law Debbie Graham who provided exceptional nursing care in the home during Brians final days.
Brian was a kind hearted, joyful man who was known by many; and if he didn’t know you, it was his mission to find out who you were, who you were related to, or where you worked. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and talking to people was one of his greatest joys, hence being nicknamed Brian Talko by his sister-in-law Dolores. Everyone felt after meeting Brian for the first time that he was like someone they knew their whole lives as he was so friendly. He would give you the shirt off his back if he could and was always there to lend a helping hand. He took tremendous pride in his work as an electrician and loved his career which allowed him to travel all over Canada and places such as Singapore and Amsterdam creating many friendships along the way. He spent the last ten years of his career with Newfoundland Hydro at the Holyrood generating station which he always said was his dream job nearing retirement.
Some of Brians favourite things included sitting around the campfire on the beach in Fermeuse, listening to music and telling stories, having a drink on the patio with his wife Darlene and friends, and just enjoying the company of others. We will forever miss his contagious laughter, big smile, and easy-going personality.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm, Sunday, September 29th, 2024 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. A funeral service will take place at St. Teresa’s Parish on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 11am.
