Brenda Kennedy
June 12, 1956 – March 24, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda on March 24, 2024. Surrounded by the love of her family, Brenda passed peacefully at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre following a lengthy but courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma of the brain.
Predeceased by her parents, John in 1966 and Rita in 1998, of Trepassey.
Left with fond and cherished memories are Brenda’s devoted family members: sister and best friend, Marilyn (Carl)(St. John’s), brother Pat (Jenny)(Trepassey), nephew Matthew (Krista)(Mobile), and precious great-niece, Ellie; as well as many relatives and numerous friends.
Brenda requested that her family not write her obituary about her life, rather she thought it was more important to thank her many caring and loving friends for their thoughtfulness, kindness, and endless support throughout her illness. We will always remember and appreciate how each one of you helped all of us as well, throughout a very difficult time.
Anyone who knew Brenda is well away that she had a kind heart, an amazing spirit and was a compassionate person in everything she did. This was evident in her work and her interactions with family and friends. Throughout her illness Brenda kept a brave face, never gave up hope and always had a positive attitude.
Special thanks to the following at the Health Sciences Centre for caring from Brenda: Dr. Joanne Hickey and her team, staff at Ambulatory Treatment Unit, staff at 4NA during Brenda’s stay there 6 ½ years ago and most recently in February – March 2024. Also thanks to all the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre for their kindness and compassionate care shown to Brenda during her final days. We will be forever grateful. The kindness shown towards our family also helped to make this difficult time a little easier.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, on Wednesday, March 27, from 1-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service to take place from Caul’s Chapel on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11:00am.
No flowers by request. In keeping with Brenda’s selfless spirit of giving, we kindly ask that donations may be made to The Gathering Place, SPCA or The Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
May you rest in peace Brenda. We love you and we will keep you in our hearts forever. We will never forget your beautiful smile.
In life we loved you dearly. In death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one else will ever fill.
