February 11, 1931 – December 7, 2023
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Bluma Dieks Goldenberg on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the age of ninety-two, at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa. Predeceased by her husbands, William Dieks and Herbert Goldenberg. Bluma will be missed by her children, Rhona (Bill), Edward (Sherry) and Tammy (David). She was a loving and involved Bubby and she adored her grandchildren, Rachel (Gabriela), Robert (Chelsea), Adam (Kelly), Max and Sydney. Stepmother to Naomi Goldenberg (Robert) and step-grandmother to Natalie. Bluma was ‘Bubby B’ to Isabella and Isla and a great-grandmother to Violet and Autumn. Bubby B always Facetimed with Isabella and Isla to see how they were doing but she loved it best when they came to visit or got to see her on Zoom Shabbat from Ganon Preschool.
Bluma was born in Poland, to Moshe Meyer and Rachel Leah Shaffer and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Hymie (Ruth), Rosa (Bernie), Harry (Ruth), Bill (Evelyn and Marylyn) and Minnie (Al). She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews whom she adored. The family would like to thank Dr. Levine, Dr. Miller and the nurses and staff at Hillel Lodge for their wonderful care.
A graveside funeral will be held on Friday, December 8 at 12:30 p.m. at the Jewish Memorial Gardens, 2692 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Shiva at Rhona Levine’ home in Ottawa, 2871 Richmond Rd. #609 (please ring 1160 for entry). Shiva hours are Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily.
