A beloved teacher, dedicated family man, and passionate soul, Bev Tarnowski passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the age of 80. Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, on October 14, 1944, Bev lived a life filled with curiosity, generosity, and a love for learning that he shared with everyone around him.
Bev had an insatiable curiosity and a lifelong love for learning, which naturally led him to a career in education. For over 35 years, he thrived as a junior high science teacher, inspiring generations of students who affectionately knew him as «Mr. T.» With his unique ability to make science fun and engaging, Bev had a knack for sparking curiosity in young minds. He was always collecting items from around the house or garage sales to create exciting, hands-on lessons, leaving a lasting impression on his students.
Outside the classroom, Bev was a man of action. He loved the outdoors and could often be found building something – whether it was one of the three homes he constructed, a sturdy fence, a welcoming deck, a fort for the kids, or a piece of unique patio furniture. Bev also had a passion for the open road and the freedom of riding his motorcycle. He treasured the time spent exploring the countryside on two wheels. His hands were rarely still, and his willingness to help friends and family knew no bounds.
A man of few words but strong character, Bev’s words carried weight and meaning. He led by example, instilling in those around him the values of hard work, integrity, and love for family.
Bev is survived by his loving partner of 24 years, Maureen; his two sisters, Karen and Annette; his brother, Rob; his children, Maria (& spouse Terry) and Mark (& spouse Anita); his grandchildren: Nanuak, Emma, Kaden, Jaxon, and Ryker; and a legacy of love and inspiration that will live on through both his family and the thousands of students whose lives he touched.
Bev will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His contributions to his family, community, and the world of education are a testament to a life well-lived.
A celebration of life will be held On Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm in Coloniale Golf Club, 10 Country Club Dr, Beaumont, AB T4X 1M1
