Obituary
Passed away on March 1, 2023 after a short illness, Benson Gordon Newman at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. He was 76 years of age. Mr. Newman was born in Englee NL, went to trade school in Clarenville and moved to Lab City in 1966. Mr. Newman retired from his work with the Iron Ore Company of Canada after 30 years of work. He was a member of USWA Local 5795 and the Canadian Legion in Lab City.
He was predeceased by his first wife Joan; parents Banfield and Amelia; Parents-in-law Harold and Virtue Durdle. He leaves to mourn his wife Nancy Piercey; daughters Delores (Don), Tina (Jerry), Linda (Freddie), Chantel (Greg), son Robert (Maxena) Piercey; grandchildren Billy, Justin, Keri-Lynn, Mitchell, Sarah, Dylan, Christopher; great-grandchildren Austin, Hunter, Dylan, Oliver; sisters Ann (Nelson), Linda, Dawn (Keith), Leona (Leroy), a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Urnbearer will be his grandson Dylan Piercey.
Donations in Ben’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
