Benjamin Roy Ayles, born on July 3rd, 1943, bid farewell to this world on December 10th, 2023, after valiantly facing a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was a devoted husband to Helen, a loving father to Ian (Nicky), and a cherished grandfather to Ciara and Gavin. Roy leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be treasured by his family.
Throughout his life, Roy made an impact through his dedication and talents. He contributed his skills to the Department of Highways, leaving an indelible mark on the infrastructure that serves the community. He also served as Councillor of Port Rexton for nearly 20 years. Beyond his professional commitments, Roy found solace and joy in music. He lent his voice to the harmonies of the group Music and Friends for many years, sharing his passion for music with others and creating melodies that resonated with many hearts. He lent his vocal talents to the church choir and band for as long as he was able to attend.
In addition to his immediate family, Roy is remembered fondly by his brothers Ron (Barb), Doug (Teresa), Larry (Linda), and sister Glenda (Cliff). His presence in their lives brought joy, laughter, and a strong sense of unity that will continue to endure.
While Roy’s physical presence may be absent, his spirit lives on through the memories he crafted and the lives he touched. His legacy of love, perseverance, and the joy of music will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In honour of Benjamin Roy Ayles, viewings will be held at Christ Church, Port Rexton on Wednesday, December 13th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the same on Thursday, December 11th at 2 pm. with intermeny following at the Anglican Cemetery, Port Rexton/Trinity East.
