It is with great sadness we announce the
passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Dorothy (Adams)
McAloney, age 90, of Amherst. Barb passed away on
Monday, July 1st, 2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre.
Born in Joggins, NS, she was a daughter
of the late Daniel and Dorothy Jane (Morrell) Adams.
Barbara was a graduate of Aberdeen
Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Highland View Regional
Hospital where she worked until her retirement in 1993. She was a
former member of the Amherst Y’smenettes and volunteer at
the food bank. Barbara was also a member of Trinity Saint
Stephen’s United Church, and a lifetime member of the United
Church Women. She enjoyed Tia Chi, yoga and line
dancing.
Barb will be dearly missed by her son,
Michael (Karen), Calgary, AB; daughter, Sherry (Stephen) Ripley,
Greenwood, NS; 4 grandsons, Thomas and Jeffery McAloney,
Jonathan and Justin Ripley; sister Nancy (Roy) Parlee; 3 great
granddaughters Rowan, Laurel McAloney and Maya Dixit-Ripley, nephews
Kevin (Theresa) and Daniel (Janice) Parlee
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband Harold.
The family would like to thank Barb’s
neighbour Laura as well as the care team at the Cumberland Regional
Health Care Centre.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Following Barb’s wishes, cremation
has taken place and a private family service will be
held.
Donations in Barb’s memory may be made
to Alzheimer’s Society and The Cumberland Hospice and
Palliative Care Society
